It's getting down to the end of the semester, and everyone is anticipating being released, or in some cases finishing altogether. It seems that there is hardly a better time for some college-related trivia.
- Cap and gown regalia used to be daily uniform for those attending school.
- The term "Doctor" did not used to denote a professional in the medical field. It was actually first used to refer to those who had studied to the highest degree within their field. Therefore, the practice of referring to a Ph.D with the term "doctor" predates the same reference applying to a physician.
- While about half of the United States population can credit themselves with having attended some college, only about a quarter of the population actually have a Bachelor's degree. Consider what that means for the dropout rates.
