Hello boys and ghouls! Soon we'll be wearing our costumes, eating candy, and carving pumpkins for that special time of year, Halloween! Here's a few fun facts I bet you didn't know about Halloween...
- Halloween originated from the Celtic festival of Samhain, when the spirits would come back to play tricks on the living.
- More than a billion pounds of pumpkins are grown for Halloween! The largest pumpkin ever measured was grown by Chris Stevens, who broke the world record in 2010 with an 1810 lb. pumpkin.
- Americans eat 24 pounds of candy every year! How much of this is just from Halloween?
Halloween is a fun holiday, and it should be a safe one, too. Join us at the Dearborn Branch on October 20th at 4:00 p.m. to learn some tricks and tips to having a happy and healthy Halloween.
