This past winter, our idea to hop five Hawaiian Islands in eleven days gave new meaning to the words "Travelers' Advisory," as I performed "trip research" using travel books and websites. My husband and I decided that our objective was to experience Hawaii's premier activities and sights with the mindset that we may never return.
Booking the flight with U.S. Airways from Kansas City to Honolulu was my first priority. Next, using Frommer's, Fodor's, and Moon Handbooks, I viewed photographic renditions and read authors' opinions. Simultaneously, I assessed the offerings that piqued our interest. This ultimately determined which islands merited more vacation time.
BeachDestinations.com offers Hawaiian Island Hopping Vacations with flights from the Continental United States, as well as the option to book Interisland Flights separately. You can browse the website's suggestions or "Build your own" itinerary using tools provided. Customization includes selecting from a list of island hotels particular to your predetermined dates and destinations. We chose to customize Interisland Flights and coordinate them with our return flight to Kansas City. Our itinerary included: two nights on Oahu, one night on Kauai, three nights on Maui, two nights on Big Island, and two more nights on Oahu. Since our flight out of Honolulu did not depart for Kansas City until eleven in the evening, we had an additional day of sightseeing on Oahu.
What did we do and see during the course of our whirlwind tour? Visit the South Independence Branch page to read a forthcoming blog with the answer. Mahalo.
