Transformers and the Periodic Table of Elements?

August 13, 2010

So, what does Transformers and the Periodical Table of Elements have to do with each other?  Good question. Both of these titles jumped out at me as interesting and odd when I first saw the titles.

Transformers: Exodus: the Official History of the War of Cyberton, is the origin story of how everything started with Transformers.  I don't want to give too much away, but Optimus Prime former name was Orion Pax, who was a data worker or a librarian!  If you love Transformers, then request this book to find out how the Transfomers lived before they came to earth.

Disappearing Spoon: and Other True Tales of Madness, Love, and the History of the World from the Periodic Table of the Elements, is an odd sounding title, so I had to read the review to see what this book was about. LJ Review May 2010 states the book, "intertwines fascinating stories with biographical sketches about the scientists who contributed to the discovery of the 118 elements found in the current periodical table."  Kirkus Reviews April 2010 says the book contains, "nearly 150 years of wide ranging science, in fact, Kean (the author) makes it all interesting, entertaining, and enlightening."  So, even if you are not a science person, you might enjoy this title and even learn something about the elements.
