Ernest Hemingway is definitely one of the greats in American literature. His works have been required reading for most of us at some time or other, and there's a good reason for that. Hemingway gets us thinking, talking, considering, and reconsidering. Now, the North Independence Branch has the honor of inviting you to rediscover Hemingway in the company of your peers! This might mean reexamining his writings with a more mature outlook, or it might mean making it through something you secretly never read in high school. Whatever your situation, we hope you'll find our upcoming three-part book club engaging!
The Tracking Hemingway book club will be led by Park University English Professor Dr. Dennis Okerstrom. Dr. Okerstrom has been honored by a variety of teaching and scholarship awards, and has presented at the International Hemingway Society.
During the course of the book club, we'll read and discuss For Whom the Bell Tolls, A Moveable Feast, and A Farewell to Arms. We'll meet on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 7: 00 pm for three months. The first meeting will be on Tuesday, September 25th.
Registration is required. Register online by clicking on the blue text, or talk to a friendly Library staff member today! When you register, you'll receive copies of all three reading selections. We hope to see you there!
