Time to Say Good-Bye...
April 26, 2011
It is with a tear in our eye and a sigh in our voice that the Red Bridge Branch must inform you of the passing of the last of our beloved fish. It was ten or eleven years ago (I really can’t say which, I just know I came back to work on Christmas Break from college and the tank had arrived.) when Red Bridge became home to six fish – five of them a non-descript gray-blue and one algae eater. For a while, people would look into our tank and ask "Are there any fish in there?". It was hard to believe, but yes – we had fish.
Our final fish, the algae eater, was unofficially named Kryton after the service mechanoid on the British comedy Red Dwarf, but was more commonly called "Big Ugly". Kryton saw a lot of changes in his time with us, from new carpet and paint to the expansion of our public internet computers (hard to believe, but we used to just have four of them and now we have twelve).
Kryton has gone to that great fishbowl in the sky, and he will be missed by workers and customers alike.

Kryton was a fishy fish. He had but a simple wish. To swim and frolic, splash and play - his fishy heart was content this way. So swam he did, and he did it well. Flapping his fins, his heart did swell.
He was a good friend, as far as fish go. He could cheer me up with a friendly wave, "Hello".
Swim on in the great sky, Kryton.
