Day, n. A period of twenty-four hours, mostly misspent. ~Ambrose Bierce
This is the time of year when, after all the presents have been opened and we've eaten all the goodies, we have time to stop and reflect. What did we achieve last year? If you are like me, you spent way too many hours playing computer games and surfing the internet. What do we want to achieve next year?
I had an acquaintance who made a yearly goal to learn something new. For example, one year he decided to learn French. Another year, oil painting and yet another year, photography... you get the idea. I always felt he had a very rich life. You can learn a great deal in a year's time, and what you learn can never be taken away from you.
What would you like to learn in 2011? The library gives you plenty of opportunities to learn all sorts of new things. Check out our upcoming events.
Online Resources and Research Databases on the library's website is literally a gold mine for the mind.
Ask a staff member for recommendations on materials that can match your desire to learn something new with your interests, and look for our displays highlighting ways to get your gears turning.
It's all here, waiting for you.
