A Ticket To the Circus By Norris Church Mailer
November 05, 2010
The book, A Ticket to the Circus: a Memoir by Norris Church Mailer, is so interesting to me because the author was born the same year, in the same town, and went to the same college that I did. In the book, she even tells about working at the Atkins Pickle Company in Atkins, Arkansas, where I worked when I was just out of high school. At one time, that was one of the summer jobs available for young people working their way through college.
Norris Church Mailer describes how she would go on to become a painter, writer, and the wife and inspiration to Norman Mailer. She was his sixth and last wife, and was with him for 33 years. In the meantime, she wrote two novels, Windchill Summer and Cheap Diamonds, and eight screenplays. She also had nine one-woman shows of her paintings.
If you like reading memoirs, you will like reading A Ticket to the Circus: a Memoir.
