Those Elusive Mushrooms
May 13, 2013
Every spring, ordinary people become hardcore hunters. The hunt is not for animals but for the morel mushroom. I am guilty of turning into one of those intense and serious mushroom hunters. The # 1 rule of mushroom hunting is that you never disclose your hunting ground. Your personal mushroom, hunting spots are sacred. The #2 rule is to never poach on someone else’s hunting ground. If ever a manual is written about this most serious activity, this rule would be at the top of the list.
Here are some techniques that I will pass on to you to make your mushroom hunting more productive and enjoyable. First of all, wear the proper attire, which is some old boots and old jeans. You want to keep your mind on the objective, finding mushrooms while not worrying about messing up your clothes. Be positive; take a large sack for your find. When you get to a spot that looks like a good place for mushrooms, stop and crouch down so you are more on the same level as the mushrooms.
Hopefully, these tips will help you have a successful mushroom hunt. Even if you don’t find any mushrooms on your hunt, remember that you enjoyed a nice healthy walk in the woods. There’s always next year.
