Terrific Tools for the Avid Reader

May 30, 2012

Almost every day customers come into the Library and ask about a series they’re reading or want to start. Most have a book in their hand and want to know if it’s the first in the series and what comes next. When an author writes multiple series, it can be challenging to keep up with which book goes in which set and in what order they need to be read. I feel you, I’ve been there myself. It seems like every book written these days comes in a trilogy.

So, what’s the solution? One of the easiest ways to see a complete list of an author’s series is a website called Fantastic Fiction. It’s a British webpage that allows you to search by author or title to get author bibliographies, cover pictures, and descriptions and publication details of the books you want to read.

You can print the series info directly from the website, or if you’re into keeping your notes digital, you can easily transfer the titles you want to read on to your GoodReads page. GoodReads.com will help you keep track of the books you want to read and the books you’ve already read, and it provides access to peer book reviews. Just place those books on hold through the Library’s online catalog, and presto, your reading habits are organized!

Take advantage of these reading tools and get excited about your next book!
