Teen Takeover!
June 13, 2012
School is out for summer and that always sounds great the day before the semester ends. Just you wait. The boredom creeps in and before you know, you too will start to wish away the summer. That is, unless you take appropriate steps keep boredom at bay all summer long.
We can help. We have a pile-o-fun just waiting to be had at the library. The best part is... IT'S ALL FREE!
Every Friday, we have a Teen Open House from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. There is no registration. It's a chance to hang out, meet new people, and participate in fun activities. Maybe, it's a zombie-tastic board game. Maybe, we watch a movie you've been dying to see. If any of that sounds like your brand of fun, just pop in. We would be happy to have you. We also have a variety of craft activities ongoing in the branch. Right now, you can mix up magnetic poetry, make a mosaic post-it collage, or add graffiti to our faux brick wall. We also have a collaborative journal that will roam to our other MCPL branches, and we would love to send it with your ideas in tow.
Aside for the freeform programming, there are also events that are more defined. Tomorrow, June 14th we have Mural Painting at 7:00 p.m. On June 25, you can participate in an improv class at 7:00 p.m. We are making Shirnky Dink Charms on July 12th at 7:00 p.m. Put on your wacky golf shorts for August 9th, as we'll will be playing mini-golf in the Library at 7:00 p.m.
You can always stop by for a book or book recommendation. We have free Wi-Fi and six public computers for you to use.
Come beat the heat and keep the dog days of summer in check.
