Teen Book Club at Raytown
June 16, 2010
The Raytown Teen Book Club met at the Raytown Branch at 3:15 on June 8. The book discussion for June was Revenge of the Witch by Joseph Delaney. We had an attendance of nine. We started the group out with writing their names in Greek. Denise Bozikis, our very own library staff employee, was a special guest speaker. She is a native from Greece.
Denise shared her knowledge of Greek life and culture and helped each participant pronounce their name in Greek. She also explained the Greek alphabet. The students asked her questions about the city states of Athens and Sparta and we discussed the Greek Gods and the Oracle of Delphi. We played a game where students had to put a piece of the book on a book poster. Whoever got closest to the correct area won a book called The Dead and The Gone by Susan Pfeffer. We played a trivia game where students could win another book called Eleventh Grade Burns by Heather Brewer.
The July book is Keeper of the Grail by Michael Spradlin
