Teen Authors - Bridging the Gap
October 18, 2010
Teen authors have become popular not only with teens, but also with their parents. We have watched many movies grow from this trend. Motion pictures like the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer, The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan, and the Maximum Ride series (currently in development) by James Patterson all fit into this phenomenon.
One author you may have missed is Laurie Halse Anderson. She is a two-time National Book Award Finalist who has written great books like Wintergirls, Twisted, and Speak. Ms. Anderson has a wonderful website you can visit http://madwomanintheforest.com/. You can read her bio (both long and short version), peruse her book reviews, and catch up on her most recent titles. Laurie will be visiting Kansas City’s Reading Reptile on Wednesday, October 20th, to promote her newly released book, Forge. This is a sequel to Chains: Seeds of America, one of the 2010-2011 Truman Award nominees. Stay tuned; I have a feeling this author’s books may have a shot at the big screen, too!
