Talk About a Win!... Here's How to Help the Library WIN!

Two weeks ago, I finally ventured into new technological territory and purchased my first eReader. This purchase came after spending almost a year pondering what type of device I thought would best suit my wants and needs, and learning how various devices worked in regards to checking out eBooks through the OverDrive Digital Downloads website. After making my decision and bringing my new acquisition home, I eagerly began playing around with the device, even as it was still charging through my computer. By nature, I learn best through performing tasks. This was also one of the reasons I wanted to have a personal eReader to learn from-- not only for my own enjoyment, but to improve my skills when assisting others. After a short time educating myself more on the MCPL website, I mastered checking out my first eBook and transferring it to my device!

While I was exploring OverDrive, I noticed a box that said, "Before You Shop...Help Your Library WIN - Shop from booksellers that support our library." I was interested as to what it was about, but I was, admittedly, still too distracted by my new gadget to discover more at that time. Later, while back at the branch, I clicked on that box and found this information.  

I was excited to discover that MCPL can actually earn funds when people link to a bookseller through our OverDrive website when they choose to purchase a book!

Even though I prefer being a frugal borrower of books, I loved the idea that when I do decide to purchase one I have an option that will benefit the Library and allow MCPL to purchase even more digital media for everyone!
