Tackling Home Improvement as a DIYer
February 19, 2013
My husband and I own a house that is over 100 years old. Needless to say, it needs a lot of updating and improvements. Because of this, one of our favorite channels to watch is HGTV. We get a lot of ideas on improving our home but little know-how. Like many homeowners, we don't have thousands lying around to pay someone to do our improvements, so we try to do things on our own with a little bit of help from others.
We have found many books on remodeling at MCPL that have been helpful. You can find some at your local branch or request them from other branches. Our Research Databases are also a great resource. The DIY and Hobbies collection of databases has been especially helpful to us.The Home Improvement Collection will give you lots of ideas, and the Home Improvement Reference Center offers step-by-step instructions for all your projects.
We have completed a remodel in one of our bathrooms that turned out quite nice.

At the moment, we are working on remodeling our kitchen. We have done a pretty good job of demolishing it. Now we have to put it back together brand new!

I will keep you informed of our progress.
