Super Heroines and Super-Powered Romance
February 23, 2012
Everyone has their preferred genre when it comes to reading books for fun. Fantasy, mystery, westerns, non-fiction – all are great choices. If you spend a lot of time at your local library, you’re bound to start to branch out of your comfort zone.
Even when I’m not working, I find myself at the library. In this particular case, I was hanging out with a friend and she was out of books. Instead of spending twenty to thirty dollars at the bookstore, we went to the library and checked out several.
One book that we found was Karma Girl, by Jennifer Estep. My friend had already read the book and thought it was great. She passed it over to me and told me to read it. Why not? It had something to do with superheroes.
As it turned out, Karma Girl and its sequels, Hot Mama and Jinx are romances. There’s plenty of action and adventure too, combined with amazing super powers that are the heart of the superhero story. Thrown in the mix are hilarious characters and astounding alliteration (Halitosis Hal? Best hero ever!)
So if you’re not quite ready to give Valentine ’s Day up, or if you’ve been wanting to try something new, or you are just hungry for a new romance author, give Estep’s books a try.
