Summer Vacation
August 15, 2011
With school about ready to start, it’s time to get in one last vacation with my family. Every year about this time, we head to Branson, MO, to watch the Summer Cruise Car Show. There is also plenty of shopping and great places to eat. You can go to Branson and do things for free or at little or no cost.
At Branson Landing, you can watch the fire and water show that is set to music. That happens every hour. You can also go to the fish hatchery. There you can see lots of trout in all sizes. Inside the building, there is a Missouri Department of Conservation area where you can see some snakes, turtles, and spiders that are native to Missouri. Outside, you can get a handful of trout food for only a quarter to feed the trout.
At night, my husband and daughter get ice cream to eat as we watch the old cars drive along the strip. Branson is about 4 hours south of Kansas City. MCPL has travel books about Branson and day trips from Kansas City.
