Summer Reading Ideas
June 11, 2013
So, you’ve signed up your little ones for MCPL’s Summer Reading Program, and they’ve read 100 minutes, but now you’re out of ideas. There are only so many Dora the Explorer and Barbie Princess books you can handle, right? Well, we can help you find something new with our Reader’s Advisory resources.
Start with a look at our Recommended Children’s Reading lists on our website. There, you’ll find favorites by grade level and classics. For a more personalized search, try Novelist K-8 Plus next. Choose a book you’ve liked in the past, and this database will help you find a new adventure that’s similar or search by topic for lists of recommended books. Finally, get signed up for our BookLetters newsletters. You can choose to receive monthly notifications for new children’s chapter books and children’s picture books.
Try these out for a fresh look at books for your kids’ summer reading, and don’t forget that you can always ask one of us if you just need something new. Enjoy!
