Student Art Reception at North Oak
February 14, 2011
The word art, derived from an ancient Indo-European root that means "to fit together," suggests as much. Art is about fitting things together: words, images, objects, processes, and thoughts.
Please join us on Wednesday, February 16th from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. when the North Oak Branch, Matthew Sulzen and Steve Kraai (both Eastgate Middle School art teachers), and Mickey Staron (Northgate Middle School art teacher) will host a public reception for art students from the schools and a display of their work.
The reception and exhibit precede Youth Art Month, a nationwide observance each March to emphasize the value of art education for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programming. Established in 1961, Youth Art Month is sponsored by the Council for Art Education.
Artwork for both Eastgate and Northgate Middle Schools will be on display at North Oak Branch from February 15th through March 13th.
