Storytime Is New Again!

I really LOVE storytime!
I began taking my own daughter, now 14, to storytime when she was just 6 weeks old. I’ll admit; it was as much for me to get out the house as it was to benefit her future reading. But, I was always a library lover and wanted to pass it along to my children. We went along each week to see Ms. Mary at the Parkville Branch. She opened up a world of storytime possibilities. We enjoyed tales of adventure, silly stories, funny puppet shows, and so much more. The world of storytime was magical.
After the birth of my son and a move, we began visiting the Antioch Branch each week for more storytime fun with Ms. Tammy. The next few years were full of many trips to enjoy storytime. The library staff knew my family by name, and as we moved from storytime to summer reading and "older kid" programs, I felt myself pining for the days of storytime past. I taught preschool for several years, so I always had an "excuse" to continue to check out children’s books. I still check out children’s books to read just for my own enjoyment!
I am so excited to be the new storytime person at the Riverside Branch! I really enjoy being around young children and helping them to foster a love of books. So much of the world is opened up to young children when books are available to them. Family bonds are strengthened by reading together and relationships with friends are built by sharing the love of a good book. It is my hope that storytime will enhance your child’s love of books and set them on the path for a lifetime of reading enjoyment. I hope your family will join me on Thursday mornings starting in January, at 10 a.m., for stories, songs, puppets and more!
