Squeaker was inspired to write a story. He came upon a book witten about a little mouse who saves a princess with the aid of a darning needle and a little red thread. 

The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo is a grand adventure, and Despereaux is a very brave mouse, much the same as our Squeaker.  When he found out that the branch librarian found a needle threaded with red thread on the shelf soon after reading the book, Squeaker knew there was magic in the air, and decided to write a story of his own. And so it begins, "It was a dark and stormy night..."
