Are you looking for Spanish ancestors? The Midwest Genealogy Center and the Mid-Continent Public Library has just what you are looking for, including books in Spanish!
There are several ways to find books on Spanish ancestry. You could search the online catalog by subject. Finding your Mexican Ancestors: a Beginner’s Guide would be a good starting point. You could also search by surname to see if MGC has a family history on your family.
MGC also has numerous periodicals that can help you find your Spanish forefathers. The Midwest Genealogy Center Periodical Collection has many guides available to locate our periodicals. I would recommend MGC’s Periodical Subject Index. This index is separated into categories such as Hispanic American. Two of the Spanish ancestry/genealogy periodicals MGC has are Nuestras Raices Journal (Our Roots Journal) and Noticias de Nuestras Raices (News of Our Roots). One article in Nuestras Raices Journal tells the interesting story of Abelino Muniz, who was born in New Mexico. His story is all about Native American raids he was involved in as a boy. Maybe Abelino is one of your ancestors!
You could also research in one of MCPL’s many genealogy databases. Ancestry Library Edition has records for multiple countries in addition to the United States. Their databases concerning Spain, for example, contain vital records as well as maps and histories. Another useful database is Gale Genealogy Connect.
The research possibilities are endless. ¡Rellena tu árbol genealógico hoy!
