THE Song

Have you ever had THE song stuck in your head? Not for a few hours or a day, but for weeks? It is the song you don’t want to mention in the hopes that it will leave your mind. I have had this problem for the last two weeks. Believe it or not, it is NOT a Christmas song. The guilty song: You’re Always Welcome at Our House by Shel Silverstein. The reason this song is stuck in my head is because it is so cutesy and yet wrong. I blame my husband for getting it stuck in my head. He showed me a video of the Muppet Show featuring this song (see above). 

I have caught myself humming it throughout the day without even realizing it. Normally, if I have a song stuck in my head, I simply sing it aloud or show the video to a friend. Then, they get it stuck in their heads, and I am free! This time, however, the song will not leave. I had two other people at work singing it, and yet, it is still going through my head in an endless loop.
