Something New

If you are like me, you have your favorite authors and anxiously await their newest book. Sometimes, this means placing a hold on the book and enduring a long wait. What do you do in the meantime?

That is when I browse the "New Book" and "Most Requested Authors (MRA)" displays. This is how I discovered the Harper Connelly Mysteries, a series by Charlaine Harris. Book titles in this series are Grave Sight, Grave Surprise, An Ice Cold Grave, and Grave Secret. The books are about a young woman, who after being struck by lightning as a teenager, developed the ability to locate dead bodies and sense the cause of the person's death. They are a combination of mystery and the paranormal, and remind me of the television series Medium. I found this series enjoyable, and recommend you give it a try.

I have found books by Jeffery Deaver: The Bodies Left Behind, and The Broken Window. I also found Shattered by Karen Robards. These are authors that I had never considered reading before seeing them on display.

Next time you are in the library, check out the "MRA" and "New Book" displays. You might find an author you otherwise would have overlooked.
