Some Thoughts About Farm Animals and the Missouri State Fair

Summertime reminds me of a lot of things: farm animals from my childhood and now farm animals in the library when it’s pouring down rain and we’re expecting 300 children in one afternoon!

I love my job. There’s never a dull moment here at the library. Especially when you find cool people that will pose with a silky chicken on their heads.

Speaking of chickens, the Missouri State Fair will be here before we know it! I love the poultry and rabbit barns. There are some of the strangest chickens you will ever see all in a collection of cages that you can walk through.

The state fair will be at the fairgrounds in Sedalia, August 11-21 this year. If you’ve never been, I greatly encourage you to check it out. What a great family outing, that includes barnyard animals!
