So You Want to Start a Book Club?
March 19, 2013
The Smithville Branch now offers Book Club Kits to help you get started. The kits include a book, discussion questions, and several handouts that have tips for starting and running a successful book club. They can be checked out at our branch.
What is a Book Club anyway? It is simply a group of people who get together on a regular basis to discuss books. Our resources will help you decide what kind of group you want to have, what types of books you want to read, what is a good size for a successful group, and where and how often you will meet. These are all things to consider when you get ready to jump in and start your own group.
Whether you would like to start your own group or join one of the Book Clubs at our branch, we have some good information to keep in mind and get you started. Smithville currently has an Adult Book Club that meets the first Wednesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. and again at 2:30 p.m. We also have a Mystery Book Club that meets the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. We would love to have you join us.
