So Who Is Prince Charming?
August 13, 2013
We all know how the story goes. There’s an evil witch who casts a sleeping spell on Snow White who awakes when kissed by Prince Charming. The same is true for sleeping beauty; Rapunzel is trapped in a tall tower saved by Prince Charming’s heroics. Finally, Cinderella hooks up with Prince Charming only through the help of a fairy godmother.
The unnamed prince charming. It can’t be the same guy, can it? Either Prince Charming is not really as charming as we believe him to be, or he must, in fact, be many different people. That, or he has multiple personality disorder. But I don’t believe that’s the case—especially after reading The Hero’s Guide to Saving Your Kingdom.
Did you know that Cinderella’s prince charming, Frederic, is really afraid of things like dust bunnies? Rapunzel’s prince charming, Gustav, is more of a jerk than he is charming. Snow White’s guy, Duncan, is a really odd little duck, and I’ll leave it at that for you to find out. Sleeping Beauty’s prince, Liam, is probably the most prince charming-like we’d expect in our childhood tales, but the princess is much less what we have in mind when thinking of a sweet sleeping princes waking up to her prince charming; she’s really not nice at all!
Even for adults, if you like tales about trialing quests, building friendships, and a whole lot of humor thrown in the mix, then this is one book you’ll want to pick up!
