Snow White & the Huntsman

January 22, 2013

Snow White & the Huntsman is a well-written, fast-paced read. It's the retelling of Snow White and an excellent young adult book. Snow White has been imprisoned in her castle since Ravenna killed her father on their wedding night. Snow White has no idea that Ravenna is draining young beautiful girls of their life to remain young.

As Ravenna's brother Finn comes to get Snow White, she escapes and makes it to the dark forest. Needless to say, she's quickly out of her league and the forest knows it. Finn knows Eric the huntsman is the only man who's entered the forest and came out alive, so they hire him to find Snow White and the adventure begins.

I truly loved Snow White's character; she's strong-willed and quickly realizes she needs to save her kingdom by any means necessary.

Eric is mysterious and has an interesting backstory that you learn about as the book develops. I felt emotionally connected to him and found myself cheering him on.

After you’ve read the book, be sure to check out the movie and see how they compare!
