Sleep Safely

November 05, 2010

Getting another hour of sleep this weekend is a wake-up call for us all to check our smoke detectors. It only takes a few minutes to change the batteries. Or, as I learned from a local newscast this morning, some of our smoke detectors may need total replacement. The average life of the sensors in smoke detectors is about ten years. So, a bit more investment of time and money to replace expired detectors may be called for. While you’re at it, replace the batteries in your carbon monoxide detectors, and make sure your fire extinguishers are in good working order. You’ll sleep better after accomplishing these home safety measures!
