Self Checkout is Easy---Even a Toddler Can Do It!
September 21, 2012
The other day, as I was working at the front desk, I noticed a young mother with two children. The younger boy, a toddler, wanted mom to use the self-checkout machine. She didn't know how to do it, but the toddler insisted. I told her I would be glad to help her learn how to use it.
So, we went over to the self-checkout machine, and the toddler proceeded to tell her what to do. I recognized the boy as someone who comes into the Raytown Branch every Thursday with Grandma. He had his mom set him up on the self-checkout machine platform, and he showed her how to slide the books through the light scanner and then how to press "print" to get the receipt.
Grandma had him do this every Thursday, so he knew exactly what to do. It amazed his mom and thrilled me to see a toddler using Library equipment like an adult.
It is never too early to bring children to the Library. And, it is never too late to learn something new.
We will be glad to help you with self-checkout at any of our branches.
