Say Yes to the Club
February 23, 2012
"Would you like to be in a book club?" my friend asked recently. "Yes," I said reluctantly-- thinking of the time commitment and all the books I’d need to read.
As it turned out, the book club was terrific! We read Angry Housewives Eating Bonbons by Lorna Landvik, and what a great time we had talking about it. Our group of seven women who were connected by either friendship or family got along splendidly. We talked about the book, talked about family, and talked about current events. We’ve decided to meet once every other month, and the hostess will choose the book. Easy!
Next month’s book is The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. What a lovely book, and the best part is that I’ve already read it. I’m on my way to fulfill the MCPL's 6 in Twelve Adult Reading Challenge (reading 6 books in 12 months).
If someone asks you to be in book club, say Yes! or organize one yourself. Give it a try! Go for it! Read the books!
