There I was, sitting at one of the tables that fill the Olive Garden Restaurant. I knew that I would end up with a salad, because when I go out, that’s the only thing that I can eat. I am allergic to gluten, and since discovering this, salads have been my best friend.
As I was ordering, I asked if the chicken was coated with anything—yet another new thing I have become accustomed to asking. The waiter then asked if it was because I was allergic to gluten, and if so, would I like a gluten free menu? I was shocked! A menu that I could actually look to see if anything sounded good, not just what it was made of! I gladly took the gluten free menu and now make sure to ask at any restaurant if a gluten free menu is available.
If, like me, you love to eat out, yet find yourself avoiding restaurants because you are afraid that you won’t be able to eat anything other than a salad or some kind of meat with no seasoning, then fear no more! There are several websites dedicated to letting you know about gluten free menus and restaurants.
Next time you go out to your favorite restaurant, make sure you ask about their gluten free options to make your time much more enjoyable!
