The Results Are In!

Back in September, the Nominees for the Building Block Award were sent out – and the voting began!  In the beginning, the clear favorite seemed to be Duck! Rabbit!.  But, that's only because it seemed to be the one that was always checked out here at the Red Bridge Branch. 

It didn’t take long for the other bunny book to gain the lead, and waltz away with the winner at Mid Contient – The Rhyming Dust Bunnies was among the favorites here, along with the other book by the same author, Can You Make A Scary Face?. 

But in the end, it’s not just up to our young customers here at MCPL who get to say who wins – it’s all the children who vote in the state of Missouri.  The 2010 Building Block winner is: The Pout-Pout Fish by Debora Diesen – waltzing away with 3,939 votes.  The beloved Rhyming Dust Bunnies by Jan Thomas was second runner up with 3,425 votes.  Can You Make A Scary Face?  - took third with – 2,453 votes. 

And what of Duck! Rabbit! - the one I thought was going to win?  It came in fifth with 1,730 votes.
