Resources for Job Seekers
March 12, 2012
We go to extra lengths to pay attention to the needs of those who visit at our branch. Many customers have been using our Internet computers, Wi-Fi, printer, fax, and copiers to assist with a job search. I wanted to be sure to let you know about other things we have that can help out job seekers in their search.
Currently, we have great books and other items available for checkout that can assist you with creation of a resume, writing a cover letter, interviewing, or conducting a targeted job search. Your library card will enable you to check out up to 200 items and place an unlimited number on hold while also providing access to many great databases through our website.
To help you find some of these great databases and other outstanding resources, MCPL has created a Subject Path for Employment and Career Guidance. From the homepage, click ONLINE RESOURCES from the top navigation menu, then select SUBJECT GUIDES from the left navigation menu, and finally pick EMPLOYMENT AND CAREER GUIDANCE, which is the third result (for a visualization of how to find it, click here). That’s not all…while attending a recent workshop, I compiled a list of additional online and community resources that can assist anyone in the metropolitan area in finding the ideal job. We’ve printed this information in a bright yellow brochure titled Resources for Job Seekers in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. A digital version of this document is available here.
We wish you luck in your job search!
