Rentals At the Library?
December 19, 2011
If you frequent the DVD shelves, you may have noticed that some of our newer titles have "RENTAL" written on the artwork and on the DVD itself. You may think to yourself, "Rental, don’t we check-out at the library?" And the answer is YES!
The library is not going to start renting out movies Blockbuster-style or charging to take out DVDs. Warner Bros. has adopted a new sales procedure and has added "RENTAL" to their new releases that are sold to libraries. When a Warner Bros. DVD is released, it is only available for individual customer retail sales for the first month. Then, the library is able to purchase these titles, which have been labeled "RENTAL" and contain only the movie with no additional features.
So, don’t worry, the library is still free, and you’ll still have access to new feature films. They may just have an extra word or two printed on them.
