Red Flags in Your Medical Family History

In the November 9, 2010 Kansas City Star, there is an article entitled "When Your Family Gathers for Holiday, Create a Family Health History."  [page A1]  The Associated Press article talks about the value of spending some holiday family time to question your relatives about your family’s health history.

The Midwest Genealogy Center is sponsoring a series of genetics workshops, beginning with a session on Wednesday, November 17, 2010, from 7pm-9pm. This first session is entitled Red Flags in Your Medical Family History & a Tool from the US Surgeon General. The speaker will be Debra Collins, MS, CGC. Ms. Collins is a Board Certified Genetic Counselor from the University of Kansas Medical Center. She will discuss approaches for determining if your family would benefit from genetic testing.  Light refreshments will be served. To sign up for this session, contact the Midwest Genealogy Center by phone (816) 255-8741. It could be extremely important to you and your family.
