Recovering From a Sugar Coma?

November 01, 2012

I hope that everyone had a wonderful and safe Halloween! Now that it's November and the whole family is still a bit twitchy from all the extra sugar, you may be wondering just what to do with all that leftover candy sitting around the house. (And to those of you saying, "What leftover candy?," I salute you!) But seriously, from baking and adult beverages to donation and candy exchanges, there are tons of ideas out there.

Halloweencandybuyback.com lists groups nationwide that are participating in candy buy-back programs. Just search by your zip code. Several dentists in the greater Kansas City area are participating this year. Kids Health also has some great ideas for getting rid of your candy. But if you would rather put the candy to a more creative but edible use, there are some interesting recipes out there, too!

And finally, if you need some healthy cooking tips to recover from the holiday (and pre-game for the upcoming Thanksgiving/Christmas food glut), feel free to check out some of these books we have at MCPL!
