Reading Counts!
September 16, 2010
Blue Springs North Branch continues its year's long partnership with Brittany Hills Middle School's Reading Counts program. The joint mission/goal is to promote reading throughout the year!
Reading Counts is a program developed through Scholastic that allows students to read a book, take a quiz on the book, and earn points based on the strength and complexity of the book. Students at Brittany Hills are required to participate and it is a substantial part of the student's grade.
The program is easy: Students start with any great book found in the classroom, school library, or public library. :) The books can be fiction, nonfiction, and curriculum-based books. Blue Springs North Library maintains a large display of "Reading Counts" books. Students and parents alike love this display. Why?
Well, first of all, it is displayed under a proud Brittany Hills Middle School Eagle! Secondly, the books are ready to be taken from the display and checked out. Thirdly, there are Reading Counts binders to assist the students/parents in determining reading level and point value. All this right at one's fingertips!!
Should you not find a book on the display that fits your need, just ask one of our friendly and knowledgeable staff members. They will quickly locate a spectacular read for you!
