I keep this little leather notebook in my bag where I write down random quotes. Everything from songs on the radio, to books, to lines from cheesy Hallmark commercials go in there. I guess it’s a way to remember all those words that touch me in just the right moment that day.
I’ve definitely got my favorites. Shakespearean quotes are a must, like Hamlet’s "Doubt thou the stars are fire; doubt that the sun doth move; doubt truth be a liar; but never doubt I love." I’m also obsessed with country music lyrics, including Hunter Hayes’ "like a wave out on the ocean I will always come right back to you” and Keith Urban’s “But you touch my hand and every plan that I had disappeared like a fallen star. There’s a new beginning and I’m moving to the rhythm of a beating, braver heart.” And, I absolutely love a classic line from a movie like Steel Magnolias "Honey, time marches on and eventually you realize it is marchin’ across your face."
Words are important to me and when they’re said in just the right way at just the right time, they can be magical. Do you have a favorite quote that means a lot to you? Maybe a certain song or book has gotten you through a rough time, or maybe just a bit of humor has turned that frown upside down. How do words impact your life?
