Quilty Pleasures
October 24, 2011
Do you like to color with crayons, paint, or take pictures? These are just a few techniques you can use in quilt making. If you have ever gone to a quilt show or to a quilt shop, you have probably seen some of these techniques.
One year, our vacation bible school gave each child and adult a square of white material and had them to do a simple flower by dipping their finger into paint and dotting it on the material. Then, they drew stems and leaves, and signed their name. The quilt was sold at our church's annual dinner and auction. It was fun to watch everyone bidding on it! Everyone wanted it because it was the work of the children.
The library has books on all types of quilting from the simple to the very difficult quilts, jackets, bags and table tops. Why don't you try some of the books listed below or check out our quilting database, Hobbies and Crafts Reference Center?
