Quilted Memories
November 20, 2012
Quilting is a big deal at the Colbern Road Branch. Several of our staff love quilts, make quilts, attend quilt shows, and meet in quilt groups. One of the newest quilt topics floating around the workroom lately has been t-shirt quilts.
Moms can save their daughters’ camp shirts, soccer shirts, and school shirts for a special graduation memento. Military veterans can have their t-shirts made into an honor quilt. Doting grandparents can have their grandchildren’s baby clothes sewn into a textile scrapbook. The possibilities are endless, and that got us thinking. Wouldn’t a MCPL t-shirt quilt be something to see? We have library logo shirts, staff development day shirts, and general reading shirts. What a great way to look back at how the Library has grown and the memories we’ve made!
What would your t-shirt quilt look like? Would you like to make one for yourself or someone special? Check out MCPL’s collection of how-to books and start quilting today!
