Pumpkin Picking
October 10, 2012
It’s October, and you know what that means, PUMPKINS! It is most definitely pumpkin picking time, but where are the best pumpkins found? You can always buy one at Hy-Vee or Wal-Mart, but for us traditionalists, nothing will do unless it involves tractors, straw bales, and cider.
Jackson County has an abundance of pumpkin patches. You just need to know which one is best for you. There are patches with fruit orchards on the grounds (can you say apples?), patch and petting zoo combinations, corn mazes that you can carry your picked pumpkins through, and even haunted pumpkins! I think the best way to narrow down your choices is the Patch Directory found here.
And, as far as the Library goes, we may not have pumpkins, but we certainly have plenty of books to help you figure out how to carve or cook those pumpkins when you get them home. So, get your pumpkins and get creative!
