Printing in Color at Your Library

February 06, 2013

We do not have a color printer at the Library, but don’t be discouraged. There is a way to print your document in color. At the Library we have a copier capable of copying and printing documents in color.

If you save your file to a USB flash drive, sometimes referred to as a jump or thumb drive, you can print it out on our color copier for $.50 cents a page. If you do not have your own flash drive already, we sell them for $6. There is one minor hiccup in the printing process though; our copier is only able to print PDF and JPEG files. There is a pretty simple work around for this.

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher) allows you to save most files as PDF files. Office will automatically convert the file for you with little hassle. This can be done in a few simple steps from any of our public PCs:

  1. Go to File.
  2. Select "Save As."
  3. 3. From the "Save As" drop down menu (towards the bottom). select "PDF."
  4. 4. Click "Save."

Once the file is on your flash drive, just plug it into our copier, deposit your money, and select "Printing."”

If you are a visual person, click here and you will find basic screenshots walking you through the process.
