A Presidential Visit
March 18, 2011
The Grandview Branch had the honor of hosting a presidential visit Thursday, March 17th; President Abraham Lincoln, that is. President Lincoln both entertained and informed the crowd as he talked about growing up in Kentucky and Indiana, working in New Salem, Illinois, his early career as a lawyer, and his marriage and family with wife, Mary Todd Lincoln.
Our presidential impersonator, actor Larry Greer, also provided our audience with a question and answer session to wrap up his program Living Abe Lincoln, answering a variety of questions about the life and times of Abraham Lincoln. There will be many opportunities over the Sesquicentennial anniversary to learn more about this great man, and I wholeheartedly recommend Mr. Greer and his portrayal. Make plans to see his program the next time he visits a MCPL branch near you.
