Please Share Your Book Reviews
February 25, 2011
One of the things I have been doing lately is reading a good book and posting a review in our online catalog. If you are familiar with our online catalog, you know that you can read posted reviews for just about any title you are looking for. If you didn't know about the reviews, then you should look for them the next time you visit the website and use the online catalog.
I find reviews are really helpful in determining a book selection. I like to read what others had to say about books written by my favorite authors. Also, I am always looking for a new author to try. Reading what others have posted could encourage me to try a title or warn me not to waste my time.
There is nothing worse than getting a book home and finding out it is boring or worse yet, I have already read it and just forgot. Reviews help jog my memory about locations or characters which keeps me from getting home with a bunch of titles I read months ago.
So, since I have read my fair share of reviews, recently I have been trying my hand at posting a few. Okay, three so far. I have discovered that I don't have to tell the whole plot, only a little. I really just need to give my opinion about why reading or not reading a book would be a good idea. This seemed easy for someone like me who has lots of opinions.
Writing a review takes a little thought and effort. I wrote down my thoughts, reread them, edited for clarity, and VOILA! I had a review for posting. I went to the online catalog and looked up my title, Insatiable by Meg Cabot. I then clicked on the reviews already posted. At the bottom of the screen, I was encouraged to post my review. So, I created an account for posting. I put in my two cents worth for somebody to use a guide for deciding to read a book. It felt really good.
I encourage all of you to try your hand at posting a review. Who knows, maybe you could branch out and try blogging next.
