Planning a Long Trip? We Can Help You Get Ready!
July 08, 2011
Traveling can be a lot of fun. It gives you a chance to visit places you may have only been able to read about, or visit distant relatives. However, it also involves a lot of planning and preparation. That is why the library has a number of valuable resources that you can put to good use to get the most out of your trip.
The best search results from the online catalog for travel related books will be found with call numbers between 910 and 919 on the shelves. There are all sorts of travel guidebooks to look through in our collection. A good way to limit the number of search results is to put your intended destination in the title field (St. Louis, for example) with the word "travel" in the subject field. Feel free to replace St. Louis with another destination in this search, if you want. Let your imagination run wild.
We also have a number of research databases that can help you. One of them is called Global Road Warrior and, as the name implies, it’s designed for anyone looking to travel abroad. Its layout is fairly simple, and it gives you access to information you will need to know, from the language and demographics of a country, to what is considered customary for tips.
There are a number of other databases under the Geography and Travel subheading. Exploring these links will take you away from this blog and to another part of the library's web page.
Our staff has also compiled a list of travel-related websites that you can use for a variety of purposes. You can use these sites for information on destinations, flights, gas prices and more.
