Placing an Item on Hold?
June 17, 2010
If you are planning to place a hold on an item, here's a few things you should know about the process.
The information is gathered and a report is generated listing all the items that need to be pulled from the library’s shelves to fill holds. These holds can be for customers at your library or those at other locations. A few times a day the library staff gets the report and gathers the items needed. These items are then readied for either the customers at the branch or placed in a transportable book tub for customer at other locations.
From start to finish, the hold process can take several hours to complete. Something you can do to speed up the process would be call the branch and let them know you just placed the hold. Another option is to let us know about the hold when you arrive so we can go retrieve the item for you while you wait for a small period of time.
So please, continue to place your holds, just remember that items won’t be available immediately.
