Pinterest: My Newest Addiction
April 02, 2012
I admit it, I’m addicted to Pinterest. It is a website where you can save images (called pinning) and information from other websites in folders. You have to create an account with a username and password. A coworker "invited" me to join, and so I started an account to save card-making ideas into folders. If you haven't received an invitation to join, you can go to their website and request an invite.
People with similar interests can "follow" you or you can "follow" them. This allows you to look at items they have pinned to see if you would like to pin them into one of your folders. Some of the items that people pin, I’m not interested in. (for instance, I don’t knit or crochet) So, I can "unfollow" some of their folders. My folders have expanded from card-making ideas to gardening, food, household hints, camping, interior decorating, cute critters, library stuff, and fun and wise sayings.
Every evening I look through items that people have pinned and decide if I want to add them to my folders. Then, I look for websites that might have information that I need and pin those. There are several household hints and recipe pins that I am excited about trying as soon as possible. I’ve already made several cards using the sample cards in my folders.
