Pet Rescue

April 20, 2012

I have met an incredible person who runs Erin’s Midwest Animal Rescue. This is a foster based organization. She got me thinking about my three dogs that I currently own. All of them were rescued either from a friend, the street, or an animal shelter. These dogs have enhanced my life in so many ways.

Many people ask her, "What is animal fostering?" Animal fostering is when you take an animal into your home so it can learn appropriate interactions with humans and other animals until it is ready to be adopted (If I did this, I would keep them all). Normally a person places an application for the pet they want. The animal rescue organization must have vet references and sometimes requires home visits based on the breed of the pet.

If you are interested in researching about adopting a pet, MCPL has many great books on the subject. Two good books for information on adopting dogs are the Adopted Dog Bible by Kim Saunders and Puppies for Dummies by Sarah Hogdson.

Thank you for you comments. I feel that way exactly about animal rescuers and animals that need to be rescue.

I agree with you completely. Animal rescuers are so important for future pets.

I recently adopted my MinPin puppy from Erin and I have enjoyed him very much.I too feel like I would have a hard time letting them go if I was able to foster. I'm glad that Erin and others like her are able to.
