Pass It On
May 15, 2013
Have you heard of paying it forward? You know, where you’re the recipient of some sweet unexpected act, and then you pay it forward to the next person instead of paying it back. It’s like when you go to Starbucks and the person in front of you at the drive-through pays for your coffee and then you pay for the person behind you, or when you help an elderly lady carry her groceries to the car and then someone else unexpectedly holds the door.
Well, the Colbern Road Branch was blessed by one of these random acts of kindness recently. Early one morning, a customer came in and left a jar of nickels at our desk with a note that read "Have a fine? Here’s a nickel or two." All that was needed in return was to "pass it on." It just made our day and has been bringing smiles to our customers’ faces ever since. Some take a nickel for their fines; some leave a quarter for someone else to use.
